Dinosaur NP

We started the day at 4:00 am. Stopped in Price I think for breakfast and some exercise at the local McDonalds (it was way too cold to go anywhere else). Then drove and drove and drove some more. . . But it was worth it when we finally made it to Dino NP.
The visitors center was really neat- they are touching a rock that is 1.2 billion years old! We only stayed here a few minutes before heading up to the quarry though.
I was very impressed with the quarry!
We learned that the Barosaurus that is in the entrance of the Natural History Museum in New York City came from this exact quarry! Jude loved that since we just saw it a couple months ago.

The quarry wall was huge and there were SO many fossils. And they were so easy to see and the whole building was just really well done.

There was even a spot where you could touch the bones still in the wall. Very cool.
Of course my kids loved all the interactive displays.

Jr Rangers!! Lydia kinda-sorta participated and Julia and Jude earned theirs. It was a lot of work though!
After even MORE driving (through the snow and past the enormous Flaming Gorge Reservoir) we got to our hotel in Rock Springs, WY, where they had a great pool. Day one was definitely a success.
